The 15^th Meeting of Rabies Program Directors of the Americas (REDIPRA) will be held 16-17 September 2015 in Brasília, DF, Brazil, at Lakeside Convention & Resort Hotel.

The meeting shall be attended by representatives of the zoonosis and rabies surveillance, prevention, and control programs of the ministries of health and of agriculture from 27 countries of the Americas, given the crucial need for an analysis, in the context of common responsibility and cooperation between these two areas, to ensure the success of the countries’ rabies programs.

REDIPRA 15 will analyze the current situation of rabies in the region, the progress in the control and elimination of human rabies transmitted by dogs, as well as possible setbacks. It will also define strategies of attention, surveillance, and prevention of wild rabies and the rabies of herbivores and the health-agriculture interrelation for controlling this zoonosis, which impacts on the countries’ health and economy.

Prior to REDIPRA 15, a REDIPRA International Pre-Seminar The experience of countries and tools for the declaration of canine rabies Variants 1 and 2 free areas will be held on September 15 at the same location.

REDIPRA 15 is promoted by the Veterinary Public Health Area of the Pan-American Foot-and-Mouth Disease Center (PANAFTOSA) of the Pan-American Health Organization/World Health Organization (PAHO/WHO), with support from the Health Surveillance Department (SVS) of the Ministry of Health (MS) of the Brazilian Government.
